Naughty or Nice
There is a quote that says: “The end never justifies the meanness.” In today’s world there seems to be so much meanness. We as believers need to help change this. We need to realize that our end is heaven, and that end never justifies any sort of meanness. Jesus came to give us life, and give it to us in fullness. He did not come to condemn but to save (John 3:16-17) We must imitate Jesus. We need to share the fullness of life with those around us. We need to cultivate positive virtues (joy, peace, love) to counter the violence, meanness and hatred which is so apparent in our world.
There’s another quote that goes like this: “Keep company with good people and good people you will imitate.” As believers we gather regularly to worship and pray. Hopefully this gathering of “good people” for a “good reason” will help make us better individuals. As we improve ourselves, the world improves. Today’s gospel parable is about good seed and bad seed. Hopefully we are the good seed, which because it falls into good soil, produces much fruit. Our good soil is Sunday worship, regular prayer and works of kindness. Let us take root in these areas and make our world a better place by the good fruit we bear. Peace.
