God Cares for You
Sometimes we forget how special we are to God. Sometimes we forget because we don’t like what we see when we examine our lives. In today’s Gospel we hear about God’s special love for each of us. We need to appreciate the love God has for us particularly because God knows all about us, and “even the hairs of our head are counted.” God knows our weaknesses, our sins and our mistakes. Yet, even with this knowledge, God loves us. Our challenge is to become more like our God of love. This means we are to try and love others even when we know their faults and failures. We are asked to forgive others who have hurt us. We are called to be patient and kind to others, as God is with us.
We are reminded in the Gospel “not to be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both body and soul” Sometimes we can kill our body and soul by the things we do, say and think. Let us proclaim our faith from the housetops and live the love we have received from God. May God’s care for us be reflected in our care for one another.
And together with our Deacons, their wives and the entire parish staff congratulations to all Dads on this Father’s Day. May the Lord bless you and help you grow more and more toward Him. Peace.
