Today we celebrate the last Sunday of Advent. During these days of Advent we have been preparing for the coming of Jesus, past, present and future. We are just a few days from Christmas and the celebration of the past coming of Jesus when He was born in Bethlehem. As today’s scriptures remind us, Jesus is “Emmanuel, God with us.” Jesus is with us. He is here among us. He is the light of the world and when we share the light of faith, hope and love, we make His coming real.
In our second reading St. Paul said that through Jesus “we have received the grace of apostleship.” Let us be worthy apostles by giving ourselves entirely over to Jesus and by sharing Christmas faith, hope and love with others. As we come into the light, let us also share the radiance of the holy season. May we celebrate Jesus’ birthday with great love and joy, for Jesus comes to us. Peace.
