OCIA, the “Order of Christian Initiation for Adults,” is the path the Catholic Church provides for any adult who wants to become a Catholic or who needs to receive any of the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). These sessions may also be helpful for those adults interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. OCIA gathers weekly on Tuesday evenings beginning in September, continuing through the Easter Vigil with the reception of sacraments, and culminating with a celebration at Pentecost (50 days after Easter). Our first meeting of the year will take place on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Come and journey with us!
If you have already received the Sacraments of Initiation, we encourage you to continue your formation with our Adult Faith Formation Program.
What is Adult Faith Formation?
Adult Faith Formation facilitates continual spiritual and catechetical growth of parish adults.
Why Adult Faith Formation?
As the US Bishops explain: “The Church’s Pastoral ministry exists to sustain the work of the Gospel…To grow in discipleship throughout life, all believers need and are called to build vibrant parish and diocesan communities of faith and service.”
What is goal of Adult Faith Formation?
In Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, the U.S. Bishops stated, “We seek to form adults who actively cultivate a lively baptismal and Eucharistic spirituality with a powerful sense of mission and apostolate. Nourished by word, sacrament, and communal life, they will witness and share the Gospel in their homes, neighborhoods, places of work, and centers of culture.”
Adult Faith Formation sponsors retreats, programs, lecture series, and book clubs at the parish throughout the year. Come experience God in a real and personal way within the community.
