During this trying and difficult time in Turkey and Syria after the devastating earthquake on February 6th, where at least 20,000 people have died and tens of thousands missing or injured, Pope Francis issued an appeal for help for all those affected as the death toll soars: “With emotion I pray for them, and express my closeness to these peoples, the families of the victims and to all those who are suffering from this devastating calamity.” He is urging everyone to show solidarity with these territories.
Therefore, Archbishop Gomez has asked all parishes to consider conducting a special collection this weekend, February 25-26. Should you wish to participate, all checks should be made payable to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and denote Turkey/Syria Natural Disaster in the memo line.
