Forty-three cast members and community volunteers from St. Rita Catholic Parish and Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center will perform an original production of music, interpretive dance, tableau and meditative reflections. The theatric, music and dance-filled event portrays the passion of Christ through the eyes of Mary Magdalene. Exquisite dance, colorful costumes and beautiful music enhance every scene while meditative and powerfully expressive reflections contribute to this Lenten event. Soloists Erica Jones Deato (Mary Magdalene) and Sean Murtha (Jesus) will be featured, as well as a brilliant cast composed of church, retreat, and community members. Written, produced, and directed by long-time St. Rita parishioner and Sierra Madre resident, Mimi Mycroft, The Crimson Cloak will be performed twice in the sanctuary at St. Rita:
Palm Sunday afternoon, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. (this performance was originally intended to be outdoors at Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center, but was moved to St. Rita on account of the weather forecast)
Good Friday evening, March 29 at 7:00 p.m.
Admission is free; donations for Mater Dolorosa and St. Rita Catholic Parish are gratefully accepted. For further information, please contact Aida at [email protected] or (626) 355-1292 x222, or Melanie at [email protected] or 626-355-7188 x103.
