Join with us as we open the scriptures in order to continue in this journey of faith as we open the books of scripture one at a time from beginning to end and leaving nothing out.
A very good model for the studying of scripture can be found in the Road to Emmaus story in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 24:25-32). This narrative showcases how the understanding of the meaning of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is more fully found through the study of the Word of God as expressed from the beginning and through time in the written scriptures of Israel. It is through an understanding of these scriptures that one comes to a fuller understanding of the fullness and wonder of the salvation given through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Christians read the Old Testament in the light of Christ crucified and risen. The New Testament lies hidden in the Old and the Old Testament is unveiled in the New. (CCC: 129)
Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. (CCC: 133)
We meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the St. Rita Parish Office Conference Room, except for major holidays and feast days. Please check the calendar for current schedule or email us at: [email protected]
