Pastor's Newsnotes: 1/15/2012

Thank you to all who made a gift to our Annual Year End Appeal. Your participation and generosity will help us continue to meet the current needs—and to plan for future needs—as we strive to be good stewards of our parish faith community.

This Sunday the gospel reading is taken from St. John and is really preparatory for next Sunday's reading taken from St. Mark. This Sunday John has "The Baptist" telling his disciples to turn their allegiance to Jesus (which they do); next Sunday in Mark the same disciples will be called by name. To borrow from the realtor's world, one might say it's all about

"VOCATION, VOCATION, VOCATION."

Thanks to One and All!—who worked so hard to make our Advent and Christmas time at Saint Rita such a graced time—a time that has tripled in outreach and aiding the poor and homeless. On behalf of all of us, I would like to thank Rosemary Hagerott for her coordination of our Advent Giving Tree and "Adopt-A-Family" program. She, in turn, would like to thank profoundly all our staff and volunteers for teaming up with her to receive and deliver the mountain of generosity that came from all of you who participated. The Christmas Eve Family Mass at 4 pm resulted in another deluge of gifts for the St. Francis Center—the ushers and volunteers were challenged to find enough bags to gather the gifts.
